I am so grateful for the experience that A Way and Means gave me, because the love and support that I received while I was under their care made a lasting mark on my recovery. I have gained longtime friendships in doing so. They always believed in me and my ability to succeed. God puts people and places in your life and A Way and Means was definitely one of them! I would recommend that anyone striving to become free of addiction to look into their resources.

Recently I’ve celebrated 2 years clean of ALL drugs and alcohol. Getting clean was one of the hardest trials of my entire life. After treatment, I needed a safe and structured place to recover that would help transition me into a normal way of life. I spent several months at halfway houses managed by A Way and Means. The houses were nice! More importantly, the rules, management, and guidance I was provided with were helpful. The owner Betsy has remained a good friend to me and part of my support system. Thank you AWAM!!
Although I grew up with parents who loved me and cared for me, I still ended up hanging with the wrong crowd and getting into drugs. I started using mind altering substances when I was only 11 years old and very soon after found myself addicted. I moved to a halfway house in South Florida 6 months ago managed by A Way and Means and have been sober ever since. I am so grateful for A Way and Means and the people I have met through living here. The structured environment has helped me progress to a place where I can now make healthy decisions for myself and live my life clean and serene.
Being an addict, I faced many of the common problems including being jobless and homeless. I ran the streets in Philadelphia and was a hopeless drug addict. I had tried to get clean and sober several times, but it wasn’t until I found a sober home managed by A Way and Means that things really started coming together for me. Now, I have a good job, I live in a positive and healthy environment, I have sober support including my family, sober friends, and a sponsor who I work the 12 steps with. I go to nearby meetings daily, and I am happy to say I have 5 months clean and sober. I have worked very hard to get to a place in my life where I am happy and healthy, and I owe a lot of my success to AWAM.
